ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHERS
Katie Ryann is a rising NYC-based dancer, choreographer and teacher. She began her professional dance career with Jin-Wen Yu Dance in Madison, WI before moving to New York City to work at the Joffrey Ballet School. Her choreographic process is holistic and deeply interrogational; involving thorough research and experimentation, throughout the studio, on paper and in conversation. Her work has been described as “an oil painting under lights,” utilizing altered traditional shapes and blurry momentum to attract and lead the audience across the stage or screen.
Bruised Pear Dance Project Nadia Benes, Emma Hansen, and Olivia Kleven are freelance dancers and choreographers hailing from Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. Following their graduation from the Limón trainee program in 2023, the trio sought to explore their own choreographic voice. BPDP draws movement from narrative, child-like curiosity, memory, and femininity into storied, physical experiences. Since 2023, they've presented work at Green Space, More Fish - Show & Tell, Dance Astoria, Dixon Place, BLOOM Emerging Artist Festival, and Center for Performance Research.
Eric Blovits (he/him) and Rileigh Timmerman (she/her) are New York City-based freelance movement artists. They began choreographing together in 2025, drawing inspiration from their respective backgrounds in floorwork, partnering, modern, and contemporary practices. Their work has been showcased in various NYC performance spaces such as The Tank Theater and the Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center.
Natalia Nikitin & Dancers is a NYC-based project dance company formed by NYU Tisch Dance graduate Natalia Nikitin in 2024. The company has shown work at Mark Morris Dance Center (ReVenue), Dixon Place (Dance Bloc NYC), Manhattan Movement Arts Center (℅ Drye Marinaro Dance Company), The Wild Project (New York City Fringe Festival), Brooklyn Art Haus (BLOOM Festival), and Spark Theater (Emerging Artist Festival).
Taylor Dukeman is a freelance artist residing in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA in dance performance and choreography from East Carolina University in 2021. Since, she has worked with several artists like Emily Greenwell, Andrea Guajardo, Mackenzie Simons and Alexa Luke. Choreography and teaching remain an important part of her dance career in addition to performing.
Kelsey Kushnir (she/her) is a New York based choreographer and performer dedicated to exploring the intersections of commercial and contemporary choreography, mental health, and storytelling. Kelsey’s previous works include both staged and screen dance throughout the tri state area and is thrilled to be at Fertile Ground today!
Russell Chow (he/him) Is a lighting designer and graduate of UCSD where he received his BA in Theatre. His recent work includes And her Children (SoHo Playhouse), The Hasta La Muerte Tour (Las Cafeteras), and SEED (Malashock Dance). He is excited to work with Green Space on this exciting project. www.russellchowdesign.com
Fertile Ground is a monthly, non-curated new works showcase for emerging and/or established artists. It has been a staple Green Space program since 2006. Evenings feature up to six choreographers, followed by a moderated discussion over wine that integrates the choreographers, dancers, and audience members. This series is an excellent opportunity for participants to share new and developing work, then receive informative feedback about it in a supportive environment. If you would like to apply for a future Fertile Ground, applications are accepted on a rolling, first come, first served basis. Apply at www.GreenSpaceStudio.org.
